Electoral Vote's this day in 2004 page had John Kerry beating Bush by a comfortable 37 electoral votes.

OTOH, fewer than 100 of those votes were in states labeled "strong Kerry"; today's tally has 264 EVs, almost enough to win in and of itself, in the "strong Dem" column.

I am convinced that elements of the Republican party can and will steal as much as 5-6% of the vote in certain key, all-electronic, states. I am equally convinced that they managed to steal the election from Kerry because though it should not have been that close, it was well within the 5% margin in many states.

The beauty of the Obama campaign is they'd have to steal by 10% or more in many of those states... buhahahaha
