This may be old news to everyone else, but Google have a feature on their maps page that allows you to see a street-level view in selected cities. I've just been fruitlessly trying to see the house I used to live in in Brookline (I think it must have been repainted or remodels, as nothing looks quite right). Fascinating idea!

Google Maps is well out of date, but here's my place as it was a few years ago (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=de&geocode=&q=sg18+0ee,+uk&ie=UTF8&ll=52.094748,-0.26379&spn=0.001122,0.002315&t=h&z=19)

It's not the satellite view, though, that I mean. It's the view *from* the street. I'd put a link in, but I can;t see how to link directly. But go to, for instance, Boston, Mass., click on the "Street View" button on the map, and zoom down and select one of the little orange-brown figures. It will pop-up a view of the street from street level.
