You know, I still have the armies that I bought for Ex Old Lady Number One (as an elderly retired Marine of my acquaintance refers to his former spouses...) Pair of Essex 15mm armies, Alexandrian Macedonian and Later Achemaenid Persian that I bought in, oh, 1988, 1989? I actually have two painted DBA armies built from those, but they were WRG 7 armies originally, so I ought to easily be able to do several more... (or make them DBM armies..)

But really, she needs her own army: chosen to suit her interests, nice new figures, painted to your current standards. She's worth it, isn't she? (Hint: new armies!)

Oh, no question! I was just demonstrating what a good idea it was. I would NEVER diss a lover by giving her an army I had bought for someone else. :-D

I HAVE actually started on this project. I got her some of these guys at Cold Wars. She just hasn't settled on what uniform she wants them painted in. Of course, then I need to get her another army so they will have opponents!

Hah! Dh yelled at me the other day when we were in the GW store and I was saying how I'd really like to get inti Lizzies. Apparently he thinks since my Skaven are still not fully painted (there are BILLIONS of them!! BILLIONS!!) I am not allowed another army. Weirdo.

In other news, I went out shopping for miniatures today (my first trip to our local gaming shop). It's so bizarre to actually have a local shop that sells a wide selection of historical minis. I didn't buy anything today, but I know where to go now to get 15mm Napoleonics, which I think is going to be my next project. But I want to decide what campaign and what ruleset before I buy any figures. (Though I suppose I could always get started on French - you always need French in Napoleonics.)

Hey Neta? AD says he knows a guy who cheated on his wife, and the wife took his entire collection of miniatures (we're talking thousands) and melted them down.

Exactly. Unfortunately, since there's still that little part in the back of my head that's screaming I should be doing this in 10mm rather than 15mm, I couldn't even get that. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get that part of my brain to shut up, though, once I set down with the rulebooks and prove to it that there is no basing scheme that's compatible with both Shako and Empire that can be done with figures cast in strips of 5. If it turns out there is such a scheme, on the other hand, I'll be surprised as all hell - so surprised my head will probably explode from the shock of it.

Strips would work fine if you were basing for Grand Armee. :-)

If memory serves, they'd also work fine for Volley and Bayonet, but I'm trying to not have to buy another set of Napoleonics rules here. ;-) In the end, my main criterion will be "Do this basing system work for Empire?" because Shako seems flexible enough that it should be adaptable to anything that works for Empire.
