Nessie news and other Scots affairs
May. 31st, 2007 04:25 pmCNN breathlessly enthuses at great length, with no skepticism whatsover.
The BBC, very curtly, says "Gordon Holmes, from Yorkshire, shot this footage of a creature swimming in Loch Ness, but experts said it was probably a seal or an otter."
The Scotsman doesn't even mention it.
But they do have this insight on the role of boardgaming in the current administration.
"UNIVERSITY friends of Alex Salmond recall that as a student he sometimes stayed up all night playing Diplomacy. The board game, which requires strategy and negotiation as well as bluff and backstabbing, is good training for any politician.
But the practice he got at St Andrews in the mid-1970s in having to think ahead and build unlikely alliances to advance his cause must stand him in particularly good stead in his new role as First Minister of Scotland's first minority government. "
Also, Harry Potter Land to appear magically in... Florida?

Date: 2007-06-01 02:54 pm (UTC)I was going to say "oops, I remembered the name wrong". When I google Pottersville and Potter's Field it shows either way, but when I google the script of the movie I see the name was Pottersville.

Date: 2007-06-01 08:43 am (UTC)Oh, I dunno - implying that the outgoing First Minister was a clarty minger by telling the papers how he (Salmond) and his wife had to "scrub the floors (of Bute House) on hands and knees" and "burn scented candles and incense" probably won't have made him any friends in the Labour party! :-)
