Photos of our new place!

We're in the second phase of unpacking at this point, with all the books and kitchenwares and most of the clothes unpacked and stowed. We still need to hit the flea markets/boot sales and dispose of a small mountain of stuff that it seemed like a shame to throw away, and we have a few pieces of furniture that we've decided to live without. Instead of a spare bedroom, we're going to have a study/project room, and we're going to look for a kitchen table that fits the space better than hers or mine (sorry, Brooke!)

We ended up putting some shelves, a small table, and a huge, ancient but still functional TV out by the tip behind her old apartment with a sign saying "free to good home". Five or ten minutes later when we came out again to put some cleaning supplies in the car, they were gone! Very quick work by the local elves/gnomes/etc/

You are welcome to sit in the kitchen or in the living room, and if we move some stuff around you can even sit in the dining room. There's barely room to stand in the study (until the bed goes), but then we're not supposed to make noise back there because of the Nine O'Clock Sleeper anyway. ;-)

I need to stop off at Highland Lane Thursday night and borrow the grrls' Honda so as to collect Neta's table from her place and take it away before her apartment turns into a pumpkin at midnight, but if I leave work early I should be able to do that in plenty of time to meet you guys in Takoma.

Apart from a little fighting from time to time, the cats have both settled in after the move and gotten reasonably used to being merged. Gilbert and Busby are just fine with each other; Nicholas is bullying Busby a little (no surprise); and Phineas occasionally hisses at everyone, but by and large they all manage to get along.

Me too! I was remarking to Busby this morning that I noticed the cats didn't have to carry any boxes, didn't have to drive anywhere, didn't have to unpack anything, and didn't have to take anythign to the boot sale. Their responsibilities seem to consist of complaining if food isn't readily available, sleeping, and gettign underfoot. I could do that...

Neta is responsible for the lion's share. She whipped the kitchen into shape and articulated a clear and compelling vision for the bedroom architecture (sorry--been in DC too long...) The living room was a collaborative effort.

It is very pleasant, and will only get ncier as we finish sorting things out; I need to add a pic of the little back porch where we've been having breakfast on the cool, breezy mornings, and some photos of the leafy street we live on.
