still confusion on the Dad front

Last night I got calls saying he was calmer, alert, talking to Victoria and recognizing her, asking for food, etc.
Apparently someone finally came to the house and tested for carbon monoxide, which one of my sisters had been wondering about. I gather there was a huge amount of CO there and signs the furnace had been leaking it for some long time. My dad's workroom contains the door to the furnace closet. My mum and sister Victoria opened all the windows and spent the night in a hotel (good idea!) I suggested that my mother should talk to her lawyer, since the HVAC company does regular maintenance on the furnace and should have detected this if it's been going on for as long as this sounds like (they are giving her a free furnace, which sounds close to an admission of responsibility!) Her reaction on the phone lst night and then in a separate email this morning was to get very angry at me and say that I should know she would NEVER do anything like that (talk to her lawyer about liability), that it was surely just a mistake, and my even raising the issue was very upsetting to her. WTF???
This morning I got a call from Cornelia saying that V had called to report that when she went to the hospital this a.m. they told her Dad had had a "cardiac incident" and his breathing was very fast and shallow. Since he's DNR, they didn't intervene, but he seems to have recovered by himself. They didn't know what had happened exactly, but they opined that another such event could kill him. Might? or might not? Givent hat they haven't any idea what happened, that's probably a safe guess.
I'm rapidly losing patience with these doctors. They couldn't explain what was wrong with him when he came in, why he was falling over all the time. They didn't, evidently, do a blood test for toxins or drugs, otherwise they would have found the CO and the large quantities of drugs he's clearly been taking. They have no explanation for his current condition, but they're sure he's failing. Except every other day, when he recovers and they say that they'll be moving him to nursing care, not a hospice care. I started out being very impressed by these folks, and my opinion of their ability and competence has plummeted.
