As if that isn't clear to anyone who has been reading me lately. :-)

Totally out of the blue, I've met someone marvelous, someone who is different from me in many ways and totally in sync with me in others. Someone who comes from a very different perspective on many issues--having had a considerably different life experience than I have--but with whom I still share some very basic and crucial values (and not just a belief in the importance of the four-man back line or an aversion to roller coasters :-). Someone who is open-minded, intelligent, honest, affectionate, smart, and funny. Someone who makes me incredibly happy and who is astonishingly, unexpectedly happy to be with me.

This was the last thing I expected to have happen right now, but it feels wonderfully, amazingly right. I don't know where it's going or what will happen next, but I don't really need to know that right now. Right now I can just relax and enjoy the pleasure that both of us find in spending time together, talking, walking, eating, kissing, petting our respective cats, or watching soccer.

Speaking of which, we have seats together for the DC United v. Chivas de Guadelajara Champions League match tonight. :-) And no matter which team scores the most goals, I know who the lucky winner is:

Me. :-)

and not just a belief in the importance of the four-man back line

I should think an UNDERSTANDING of the four-man back line would automatically give her bonus points....

I remember feeling like that, only you express it much better than I ever have. I'm told that after a while, the amazement and joy that this wonderful person wants to spend their time with you wears off. I've never been told how long it's meant to take, but going by actual practical experience, 23 years and counting :) Enjoy!
