eerily symbolic or just bad luck?

balzacq gave me a crystal decanter and a set of four glasses as a wedding present. redactrice and I broke two of the glasses in different moves, but I've kept two for a long time.

Today I broke one, putting it in the dishwasher. Now I have just the decanter and one glass. I can't quite decide if that's telling me something...

All too easy to get me to do that. I have the same sort of reaction to Crate and Barrel that I do to a stationer's or a hardware store ("Oh, goody! Look at all the cool STUFF!")

Dear Jan,

As I close in on my quest to off those glasses I was paired with many moons ago that have always been offensive (I won't begin to tell you the names they call me), I am requesting that you take me along with you when you are replacing them, so that I can have final approval.
