They still need annotation, but photos from my trip to St John with redactrice and shy_kat are available here. I trimmed out about a third of them, but I'm still not too happy; I thought I'd gotten better shots in many cases than I did. :-/

It is amazingly lovely! If it weren't quite so jungly and if the sun weren't trying to kill you *all* the time, I could see wanting to live there.

Gorgeous cloud formations! Which camp did you stay at?

At the Concordia eco-tents. I really can't say enough good things about these. The tents (really cabins with plastic-fabric walls and rooves) are very roomy, comfy, and pleasant (especially when there's a breeze--some further back along the hillside where there was less wind might not be as pleasant when it's really hot). The 91 steps up and down were a bit of a bear, but it made sure we got some exercise! :-) And the "green"-ness of the set-up was really appealing (water on tap is mostly rainwater; toilets are composting toilets; most electricity used in the huts is generated by solar panels outside them).

The site also has regular rooms, but these are apparently a bit irregular in space, as they were all made by subdividing a condo unit that was on the site when Concordia bought it.

That part of the island was perfect for us too; not hard to get to quiet beaches or to the funky, small-town Coral Bay area, and far away from the crowds and traffic of the island's main town (Cruz Bay) and the popular beaches that are filled to bursting with other people.

You got some very nice shots here -- I especially like all the dramatic cloudscapes. Ah, lucky man, to escape VA weather for at least a little while... ;-)
