Oct. 26th, 2006 10:46 amNew Jersey's legislature has six months to either grant gay couples the right to marry, or come up with another civil-union type system, after the state's highest court ruled Wednesday that homosexual couples are due all the rights accorded to straight couples.

Date: 2006-10-26 04:34 pm (UTC)I got a call from the Commonwealth Coalition last night asking for e-day volunteers. I explained that I would be at the polls all day with my precinct captain hat on, but I'd love to help them out however I could, and asked about their plan. So they called me back with the info. They are going to have volunteers at my polling place most of the day handing out information. I'm just thrilled because the volunteers they sent out on primary day were stellar. I'll see if I can't keep their people warm and fed and so forth, at the least. We've got to beat that $* amendment. (Have you noticed how people call it all kinds of different names? "Number 1" or "the marriage amendment" etc. ... I think we should all just call it "That $* Amendment."
