Well, Syriana was a bit of a buzzkill, but it's a terrific movie.

Thanks! :) I haven't seen Syriana but the previews looked very dark.

It is pretty dark, and it's fiction but based on the memoirs of a retired CIA field officer.

On the plus side, there's lots of good acting from the likes of G. Clooney, Alexander Siddig, Matt Damon, William Hurt (OK, those two don't act much), and various other folks. Including David Clennon, who I've thought was wonderful ever since he played the evil Miles Drentell in thirtysomething, and then again in Once and Again.
