So, busy but not impossibly so.

Dropped the girls off at the airport on Friday, then went back to work with much sadness to work for a few hours. I know they will have a lovely time in Switzerland, but I will miss them muchly.

Yesterday I slept late, pottered about, fumed at stupid Dreamhost when I realised that my mail wasn't arriving *again*, then went outside and replaced five of the six boards in the boardwalk that needed it. One was just not ready to come out! I had quite the time even getting up the ones that had partly rotted; the rest of was very solid! I went looking for our prybar, and didn't find it. But I did find two dead mice in the basement, so I set all the traps I have (five) in hopes that aconcerted campaign will encourage them to stay away. (I think it was only the incessant rain that drove one or two indoors...) The only peanut butter I had was organix from Trader Joe's, so they last meal will be a tasty, ecohealthy one. :-/

I also cleared out a pile of rubbish from the basement, mostly stuff I had been keeping to do terrain modelling I'm probably never going to do. I gave Peter some coral sand and some paper-covered florists wire and threw out the remainder (interesting bits of packing styrofoam that *could* be castles or post-modern buildings, Pringles tins that could be towers, parts of an old computer power supply that could be a massive futuristic generator--you get the idea). I moved a few things into my place to decide whether to keep them or throw them away. I have some 40K card fortifications that are going to one of the lads, and then the only stuff in the basement of mine will be the paperbacks in storage that Chris and I need to sort out, the gaming boards whih will all get left or given to friends when I move, and a few odds and ends I will probably throw away).

Anyone have any conceiveable use or desire for a selection of roundball (.440, .530, and .715)? I think I'll keep the powder horns (or at least one or two) and the .570 shot, since I might want them for the pistols.

After that I went off for my monthly massage (yum!), tried to collect a friend who was coming to the DCU game but failed in confusion (she never turned up which, I later discovered, was because she had been in Richmond and her car broke down). Got out to the tailgate rather later than I meant to, delivered the membership supplies to Chris's helpers (Statler and Waldorf ;-), and met up with [livejournal.com profile] histoire68, ate and drank and chatted, then we went in to the game.

DCU won, though they could have sealed the game more handily by not letting up and coasting every time they were ahead. But Columbus was really quite outclassed, and only managed to get two goals through our incautiousness rather than because they really created them. Still, all well. I came home and watched some Ballykissangel (my newest addiction) before bed.

Today I slept late *again*! (0800--the cats are being such sweeties) I had a good breakfast, twiddled around, then went over to Peter's and drove him and Bryan to Bob C's, where we met Scott and Erci and played a highly enjoyable miniatures game, a Victorian sci-fi skirmish game involving an attempt by Terran forces to rescue a beleagured human diplomic mission holed up in a legation on Mars. For more info, see Parroom Station. It's a game that Bob C. wrote and (beautifully) designed and painted figures for, which game he is going to be running at Historican, with Peter's assistance. Much fun!

B&P came back here and helped me move the old couch outside so the new couch can have a home when it comes tomorrow. I'm going to clean the living room so it won't be getting plunked down in the midst of filth, then have a little something to eat and watch some telly before heading to bed at (hopefully) a reasonable time.

DC really made that game much more dramatic than they needed to. But I really can't complain since we won. :D
