So, why are they refusing to testify under oath? This seems like an open admission that they're going to lie. (Apparently they've agreed subsequently to allow the whole panel to be present; gee, thanks.) I guess we're back to the Imperial Presidency of Richard Nixon, where the president is completely above the law.

What is very, very sad is that the entire nation could know about their willingness to lie (i.e: by refusing to testify under oath) and not be willing to do a damn thing about it. "Oh well," Joe Average says. Due to our being content zombies, it seems the entire nation is going to the dogs and nobody cares.

"Your president lies WILLINGLY!!!," screams some concerned citizen.

People look at him like he's crazy, shake their heads, and order a Big Mac.

This rant of mine does not solve anything, I know, but I wish more people were aware of this problem, like I'm sure you are, then maybe all of us could unite and replace dishonest liars "in power" with honest citizens.
