...is that from then on, that's the thing to beat.
I went for a ride this evening after working late (yay DST!) And I cycled the usual #2 route (loop, Highland, Overbrook, Crestview). Then I added Hillside. THEN I *pedalled* ALL THE WAY UP THE BIG HILL! (Gosh, sopund like I'm 6, don't I?) Then I was so excited, I did the loop again. Average speed down to 8.3 mph, but nearly 3 miles and I can say I went all the way up that without walking at least once. Didn't have any momentum to speak of, either, because coming down Hillside I saw a car coming down the Big Hill, so I braked a good deal so as to avoid coming up on him too fast.

Date: 2006-04-06 12:43 pm (UTC)Used to think the hill on King Arthur just off the Accotink Trail was a "big" hill. Now it's just a hill.
My current big hill is Hogback Mountain near Leesburg. In three attempts I've never made it to the top without walking. Maybe this year will be my year.
