two huzzahs, and it's not even 10.00 yet!
Oct. 9th, 2005 09:35 amHuzzah! My housemates are back! I picked them up at BWI last night a little after midnight. I was worried, because the "arriving flights" screen didn't show the origination, flight number, or time they had given me. Turns out, that's just because, like all airports, BWI is badly run. I finally found a web terminal and checked, and sure enough their flight was in the air on its way, acccording to everyone except the place it was arriving. Of course, there were no people from their airline to be found anywhere. And there was only one place open to get any food or drink (a newsagents, which happened to have a coffee bar in it), despite the fact there were at least a hundred people around looking for food and/or drink and watching bars' TVs wistfully through their plexiglass shutters.
I am so glad to have my travellin' babes home! They told me all about their travels, and I'm looking forward to more detail and their copious quantities of pictures. Their kitties were THRILLED to have them back, doing lots of climbing, purring, head-butting, etc.
and Huzzah! for Rupert. I took him out to the street this morning, since the cats got me up early (hey! 08.30 is early when you went to bed at 02.30), figuring things would be pretty quiet. It was pretty quiet--one person out jogging and one person out walking, each with a dog, and three cars driving around in the whole neighborhood. I went the usual route that I jog, dismounting when I went down the steeper hills (speed is scary!) and pedalling slowly up them so as to maximize exercise. I added the up-and-back of one street I don't usually run, and an extra loop of our cul de sac (including actually doing a full circle around the end of it) and it still came out to about the same time it takes me to run it. Nice to have something carrying a bottle of water for you :-) I think I got a fair amount of exercise (though the smaller hills that I did coast down were mostly just exercise for my nervous system :-) and I'm not totally knackered. Rupert is having a well-deserved rest on the back porch, and I'm going to go have a shower!
