Wallace and Gromit spook island

Posters for the new Wallace and Gromit film on a south coast island will not feature the word "rabbit" because of a local superstition.

Because burrowing can cause landslips in quarries, residents of Portland, Dorset, instead call the creatures underground mutton or furry things.

Posters for the new film, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, on Portland do not use the word, to respect local folklore.

Instead they simply say "Something bunny is going on".

Yet another reason why I love living here. :-D

That's neat and all, but I wonder how many people are actually going to see the film, if rabbits are still taboo. And also, if they show it on the island, will they go through and bleep out all the 'rabbits' in the dialogue? If so, I definitely want to see that film again, and I want to see it in Portland, Dorset!

There isn't actually a cinema on the island (well, they hadn't bulldozed the closed one in Fortuneswell last time I was there, but it's been closed for years). They all have to go in to Weymouth to the cinema there.

But I wonder how the shops are going to handle selling the DVDs...
