Goal-line technology set for test

Fifa will use goal-line technology at the 2006 World Cup in Germany if a trial run at the Under-17 World Championships in Peru proves a success.

A 'smartball' system has been developed whereby balls fitted with a microchip will send a signal to the referee when they have crossed the line.

Although this will enevitably stop referees having to make decisions which could swing a game ... these kind of rules are what spurs the fans on. The whole "did it didn't it" saga.

Sometimes, we don't WANT to know the exact answer.

But it all comes down to money and a result which could earn, or lose a club millions
