Two of the places I had on my list to try booking on 9/6 are full. Not good.
I think part of the problem is booking for a single person. Most places I've been looking at have a lot more double/family rooms than single ones.
Edit: And the place I'd planned on staying Friday is fully booked too. Wow. Early September seems to be the time everyone goes to Scotland. :-(
Well, the rental car is booked; I suppose I can always sleep in that...

Date: 2005-08-18 02:28 pm (UTC)There are a number of factors at work, I think. I'm single, I'm only booking for one night, and I'm going for low- to mid-price small hotels. I could have had all my bookings filed away by now if I were making reservations at the big GBP50-75/pn hotels. :-)
Plus, of course, I'm doing it over the Internet (since I'm not prepared to call long-distance), and again, the smaller places are, well, less integrated into the computer age. They *have* websites and email, but very few of them actually have online booking systems like the big boys do and it takes them a while to respond in person. I'm actually nervous now about the two places I *haven't* heard from on Skye. I wish they would get back to me--if they're full too, I think I might have better luck just making a single booking one place for the whole 3-4 days I'm going to be in Skye and missing the concert on Raasay (which, of course, I already bought the ticket for...)
