Sept. trip: lodgings

Well, I had to put something down for work (they like to know where we are when we travel), so I sent off booking enquiries to places and as far as my offical itinerary is concerned, that's where I'll be. If I end up having to book somewhere else... oh well, unavoidable change! :-)

Sunday and Monday: McLays Guest House, Glasgow Booked.

Tuesday: Stein Inn, Waternish, Skye
the Old Inn, Carbost, Skye

Wednesday: Raasay House, Raasay

Thursday: Hotel Eilean Iarmain, Isle Ornay, Skye

Friday: Colquhoun Arms Hotel, Luss

Car hire: Arnold Clark, Glasgow, Tuesday to Saturday. Booked.

Yeah, that's the one place where I decided to abandon my self-imposed limit of J30-35/pn. How can one resist a hotel run by a baronet?

:-) I'm sure she would be a hoot! However, the last two times I've travelled around Scotland with a woman, it was someone I broke up with shortly thereafter. It's just fate, I think, but for once I think I'd be better off travelling by myself :-)

I got it off (http://www.undiscoveredscotland.com/areaskye/hotelsnorth.html), where else? :-)There were numerous contenders for Tuesday night (some places in Carbost, Elgol, Glen Brittle, Sligachan, Dunvegan) but the idea of having a pint while watchign the sun set over the Outer Hebridies was too good to pass up.

Since I'm so close by....and I fully realise how weird meeting someone from LJ can be and therefore won't be offended in the slightest if you decide against it...how do you fancy meeting for a drink or two on one of your nights in Glasgow?

I wasn't thinking of a heavy session or anything, just a couple of jars and a chat. Then I'll escape Weegie-land and run off back to Edinburgh ;)

I'm getting into Glasgow on Sunday Sept. 4th around 10; I was planning to go to the hotel, drop off bags, and spend the day at museums and things (some museums are open Sunday; others are not), then check in, have dinner somewhere, and repeat on Monday. Tuesday sometime I'll collect a rental car and head north.

Does that sound like a plan we can work with?

While I'm an Edinbugger (as the Weegies like to call us) I know there are some really good museums in Glasgow, so I think you'll like them.

What's your favourite food? There pretty much a restaurant to cater to every taste in Glasgow, or if you don't really mind I know a lot of places that do good bar food. I know some places close to the George Square that are cheap and filling (ie good pub food), if you want more anything more than that we'd both have to go exploring.

Personally I think the Sunday might be easier, but if not I'm cool with the Monday too.

I've no particular favourite (native Scots, Indian, Afghan, Italian, French, German, Tibetan--it's all good! As my fried Dave is wont to say "I like the taste of food!"). Pub food would be fine. I want to hit Babblity Bowsters one night I'm there just because I've heard so much about it, but if you're not keen we can do someplace else and I'm sure it will be fine.

Sorry mate, I just found out that I'm going to have to pass on the Sunday, as my mate mindwanders is having his Stag Night on Saturday the 3rd, so I'm not going to be able to make it to Glasgow on the Sunday...let alone be conscious.

However I'm definately up for getting together another time.
