winterbadger100% better today after the rain and wind. It was almost pleasant outside this morning, after being so horrid yesterday morning that I could barely stand to walk around outdoors.
A lot of talk on the news and chat shows about the administration's change of language from "War on Terror" (best abstract slogan since "We have nothing to fear but fear itself") to "Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism". Apparently someone in the WH has noticed that simply blowing things up and shooting people is not enough to convince the rest of the world that the US is trying to spread democracy. Again, though, it's a catchphrase that bites off more than it can chew. If we are struggling against violent extremism, will that extend to Christian fundamentalists? to the US DOJ? :-)
A nice interview on Morning Edition today with Carly Simon. I am just about used to the idea that I'm starting my 40s, but Carly Simon, 60? Surely that's impossible!
Trying to figure out how much time to give myself to get to Fed Ex Field tonight for the 8pm DC United v. Chelsea FC game. Two hours? three? *sigh*
