No nice shoes or high-quality linen apparel for me today, but I did acquire

Liberte, a game ont he French Revolution. This is a topic that gets lots of treatment, but either too simplistic (Guillotine, though fun) or too complex (Azure Wish's La Revolution Francaise; I don't think I could even get most of my game geek friends to play this, because they're not polisci geeks as well). I'm hoping Liberte is in between.

Rome, a collection of three Rome-based gamettes that cover arena racing, Roman politics, and the Punic Wars at a *very* simple level. I'm thinking this is a good crossover game to merge "game players" with wargamers.

We shall see...

If you're keen on the chariot racing thing, MMP has the Gamers' Circus Minimus in their close-out sale for $10 (or did the last time I looked).

The ultimate chariot racing game is the old AH Circus Maximus, which I have. This I just got because it was a set of short, simple, historically themed games with nice graphics and simple rules that might serve to introduce, oh, a new gamer to historcal topics without having too many scary hexagons or coutners with 12 different numbers on them and so on. :-)

I returned a pair of Rockports (looked like mens slippers, and too expensive) and got a pair of Sportos slip-ons (I call them travel shoes) AND at 3-piece set of rolling luggage in HOT PINK with the proceeds.

No, I never got into it enough for that (vehicles are one of the most fiddly historical wargame models to deal with, after sailing ships). But I've seen some set-ups tht folks had, and they looked cool!

At some of the Cons I've attended the guy who runs CM brings his laquered case with chariots (36 in all - light, medium and heavy in twelve colours) and they are the coolest things, and I can quite see why they take so long to paint properly. He even has a choice of horses too!

Both of those games look excellent. Please let me know how they are. I am always looking for new games, and the subject matter of both of these are especially interesting to me and just might go on my "to buy" list.
