It's been a while since I posted on my own little world...

The March Games Day went pretty well. Nora, Melissa, Chris, Jason, Rocky, Peter, Bryan, and Bob made it over (did I miss anyone?) Rocky, Peter, Bryan, Jason, Bob, and I played a miniatures game, an adaptation of Spanish Fury (http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/SpanishMain.html) for the British Civil Wars that R and I have been working on, while Nora, Melissa, and Chris played Settlers of Catan. As various miniature brigade commanders got slain, Bob, Peter, and Jason also played several games of Down in Flames. Bob popped in and out, due to other events on his schedule, and Rocky took off for an important date once we finished the miniatures game. The remaining players got in a couple of rounds of Apples to Apples, and Jason tried to teach several of us Tigris and Euphrates, which Chris and Melissa had given me for my birthday. (Was there another game in there, before or amidst the Chinese food?)

The next day was given over to sports (with the US losing 2-1 to Mexico in World Cup qualifying and the Stanford women beating the previous champions UConn in NCAA basketball) and to naps. The following week was pretty hectic, with Stanford eventually losing a close game to Michigan State :-( and the US pounding Guatemala 2-0, several more games of Carc: Castle, at which Nora continues to set new scoring records in her savage pummeling of me (though she still has ony a one-game edge on me overall), and then two bouts of Settlers Friday night that Melissa won after she and Chris and Nora and I had been out to Hudson Trail in an effort to find NB some good hiking shoes for our trip to Scotland (edging ever closer..)

Saturday DC United executed a creditable win over the new Pumas USA team on MLS Opening Day. NB and I had a delicious dinner with some friends of hers at The Melting Pot in Arlington. Then on Sunday we had the pleasure of attending the circus with [livejournal.com profile] vikingcat, his lady wife, and his charming and amazingly well behaved daughter Kara (I don't know a *lot* of three-year olds, but I think I know two of the nicest ones around, between Kara and [livejournal.com profile] john_arundel's daughter Madeline).

This week will probably be fairly packed too. I'm going to try and finally get to one of the Iron Fist's Mordheim evenings on Tuesday; Wednesday is DC's next Champions Cup match, this time with PUMAS of Mexico; Thursday during the day I have a follow-up trip to the dentist (ugh); Friday I think I'm scheduled to have another miniatures match with Rocky, and then Saturday is the DC United home opener (Chris, Jason--you still want Justin's tickets for that, right?). I think I'm going to look forward to spending a good deal of Sunday napping, maybe reading or catching up on some telly, and otherwise relaxing and spending some quiet time with my sweetie.

Edit: Peter and I did not end up either playing Mordheim or painting figures for it this evening, so I'm probably going to skip playing it with the Iron Fist tomorrow (I want either some more practice or nice-looking figures to lose with :-). If I don't end up doing something with NB Tuesday, I'll probably stay home and putter around clearing up my desk and maybe (gasp!) doing some ironing.

Just popping in to shamelessly flirt with you.

*winks*

Well... perhaps that wasn't shameless but you got the idea.
