Hmmm. It's been a week or so since I posted more than a snippet.

Things are going pretty well, I have to say. Work is OK, and I should be getting my annual review this week. Hopefully it will come with at least a little raise; I've been doing well, and our client is very happy with the work I've been putting in.

We arranged for a realtor to come by and look over the house. She gave us some useful advice about what we should and shouldn't bother to do before showing the house, what times of year will work best, and what to expect. Basically, unless there's a big drop in the market in the next year (I think we'll be looking to sell next spring), we will probably recoup about 150-200% of what we paid for the house, which is a huge benefit.

Things are well, too, with me and Nora. She's coming to the end of her current long stint of travel (one more two-day trip this week). We're taking a quiet weekend away for ourselves (at L'Auberge Provencale), then looking forward to some time to just spend quietly at home (either one will do), or actually doing some (gasp!) actual dating stuff, like going to the movies, getting out on the water (when it gets just a bit warmer), hiking, or going bowling. :-) (Only not so much the latter for a while: more below.) She continues to be beautiful, charming, fun, and incredibly sweet and thoughtful. I am such a fortunate fellow! Our plans for Scotland proceed apace; we have our tickets booked--now I have to come up with a good itinerary (with consultation, of course). This is going to be so much fun!

The only thing that isn't going to be so much fun for a little while is due to my going out and playing soccer Saturday morning. In retrospect, it would probably have been a wiser idea just to sleep. I had a fun time, but I slammed into a couple of other players, including my friend Keith, a couple of times, and in the process I seem to have either cracked a rib or damaged a muscle or cartilage in my right chest. I went to the doctor yesterday, and he didn't seem too concerned, but the pain has continued to get more unpleasant since then. And there isn't a great deal to be done, just manage the pain for a couple of weeks until it heals.

My friends Peter and Glenda got two new kitties, who I can't wait to meet. Chris and Melissa went camping in Georgia. My second grad school class is progressing well. Other news... ? There must be something, but I'm not thinking of it right now. Mostly I'm just enjoying being a really happy badger, seeing my sweetie as often as we can manage, enjoying the now and looking forward to a very bright future.
