WTF?

There are an almost inexhaustible list of things that are heinous about our healthcare system, But this certainly ranks up there.

I went to the doctor for a routine, quarterly checkup on my diabetes &c. I paid the co-payment for my plan ($15). My insurance company then paid another $24. Now the doctor's office is coming back around to me because my insurance company is declining to pay any more, citing my deductible limit. OK, that's part of the game--our policy's deductible went way up this year, as part of my employer's skinflint switch to a Bush-style "let's not cut inflated costs, let's just ask the patient pay more" HSA plan. But when did this all take place?

February. My visit to the doctor was TWO MONTHS ago. The insurance company took A MONTH to pay the $24 they felt like contributing. The doctor's office then waited A MONTH to get back to billing me again. I'm sure that has to do with a monthly billing cycle of some sort. So what do all the overhead-charging claims adjusting and billing people do the other 29 days of the month? Fuck off? Play Minesweeper or Angry Birds?

This pisses me off.
