another year over, and a new one (about to) begin

I may or may not post again before midnight. If not, happy new year to all my readers!

I have been thinking over the last few days that I don't stop and think enough. Just stop and think about who and where I am, what I'm doing, where I'm going, and where I've been. I need to take more time out for contemplation, and maybe meditating from time to time might do me some good, get me to be less scatterbrained and more focused. Sometimes I think I get paralyzed by possibility, unable to decide what to do next and thus doing none of the things available.

2010 was not an awful year. It was better than 2009, which was better, in turn, than 2008. Progress; slow, but progress.

Really no idea what 2011 holds, and more confusingly not sure I know what I want it to hold, but it cometh all the same, ready or not.

closing in on the New Year

I hear people getting started on the fireworks early.

I've just been doing my last-minute donations before the end of the year. I finished up giving a bit more than I usually do, but it may be the last time I have piles of cash to give away for a while, and I have a feeling that charities are going to continue to be hard-pressed in the new year. I'll just have to pass up a book-buying binge or two.

It's getting close--only an hour and a half to go. I'd better ready my sparklers. :-)
