In particular, the Individual Learning Account, which was abolished in England and Wales some time back, is still available in Scotland, and you can get up to £200 for training.
Train to Gain offers subsidised training for people who are employees, which probably covers [people] who have set themselves up as limited companies, but it also specifically mentions self-employed people, which seems to imply that it covers sole traders as well.
I haven't verified that myself, but I thought it might be worth sharing just in case.
