Jan. 31st, 2009 09:59 amAh, brushes. I'm trying to paint some figures for a tournament tonight and I'm having a devil of a time, in part because I'm a handless boob, and in part because I have crap brushes.
Miniature soldiers are *fun* to buy! You can imagine then all handsome and painted up (forgetting that it takes a huge amount of work). Terrain, well, you need something to fight around and, like miniatures, if pieces are well made (especially buildings) you can imagine what they might look like (instead of the kludged mess they'll look like when you really paint them). Paint is cool, because it comes in so many shades and colours.
Brushes? I never think to buy new brushes. Until I'm hip deep in a project and the nearts hobby store is miles away.
I went through my pot of brushes just now:
What's that? Oh, yes, I should get back to actually *painting* now...

I went through my pot of brushes just now:
- 22 that I threw away straight off--too worn, clogged, separated, or bent to convey paint where I want it to go reliably
- 15 that are OK, but so large or bushy that they're no use for detail work
- 6 that might have one more go left in them--getting right close to being too worn, clogged, separated, or bent to convey paint where I want it to go reliably
- 5 that are actually worth using
