I got a message from my credit card company to alert me to suspicious activity. Sure enough, someone had charged $35 to me at Mobiquid, a French music-sharing website. Well, I charged something at a French website, but it wasn't a music-sharing one; I went back and checked the email from the company, and it doesn't say anything about Mobiquid, says it will be IDed under their name. So no deal, anonymous charger!

Also, in looking at other charges, I noticed that my bank uses the category "Merchant Description: MISC/SPECIALTY RETAIL (FIREWRKS, TROPHIES, GRAVESTONES)"

Fireworks, trophies, and *gravestones*??? Who thought up that as a group of miscellaneous category descriptors? Yikes!

And, in other news, Verizon continues to be cr@p. I'm on the fifth DVR box from them, and I have yet to have one that will work for more than a week or two before losing programming, getting all pixelated and dropping out, or simply stopping work altogether. If their next service call can't fix it, I'm going back to RCN. Their staff are very nice and courteous as all get-out, but if they can't deliver the product, then I'm not interested.

Yesterday they were saying it was going to be in the 60s today, but I don't believe them! It's grey and cold!

good lord!

[livejournal.com profile] ban_leodhasach sent me a link to this video of a ship experiencing some rough seas. It's a *car ferry* that's pitching like that, on the passage between Wellington (North Island, NZ) and Picton (South Island, NZ). It's a ship that used to travel across the Minch, the bit of sea between the Outer Hebrides and the Scottish mainland.
