A writer I love and actors I like in a semi-topical film that is bound to have a political slant.

Apparently Aaron Sorkin's latest project is a movie called Charlie Wilson's War about US involvement in Afghanistan in the 1980s. It stars Tom Hanks as Charlie Wilson and Om Puri as Pres. Zia of Pakistan. Om Puri has tremendous bearing; I can easily imagine him as a ruthless warlord. Tom Hanks as "Good Time Charlie"? I'm not so sure.

I'm also interested to see "Rendition" and George Clooney and Tilda Swinton in "Michael Clayton".

The "Jesse James" film, "3.10 to Yuma", "Elizabeth: The Golden Age", the new Bourne--I think I can wait for video for those. "Lust, Caution" has a good cast and looks interesting. "The Kingdom" could be really good, or it could be awful, a propaganda piece. "In the Valley of Elah" also looks interesting: It could be good or horrifically preachy.

"...Order of the Phoenix" is still showing at the theater over near GMU! Hmmm, I sense a road trip coming up...
