Well, I'll do a proper update later on, but I had a lovely time at reunion. Even the drive (eight hours up, nine back, for various reasons) was not too bad. I had not seem most of my friends there (like Kat, Charles, and Paul) since my 15th in 2001, and some folks I hadn't seen in even longer (like [livejournal.com profile] balzacq) or ever (like [livejournal.com profile] balzacq's charming and beautiful wife [livejournal.com profile] theda or Paul's equally charming and lovely SO, Robin).

I will trust that other people got much better photos than I did, since quite a lot of mine have people with their eyes closed (or, one case, [livejournal.com profile] balzacq's face obscured by his own camera. :-), But for your amusement, and until I can produce some prose narrative, here are some pictures of Williamstown, Williams College (mostly of the new student center, so [livejournal.com profile] redactrice can see what's been put in the big hole in the ground since last year), and some of my very dear Williams friends (plus a lot of other people in the background who I don't know :-).

Oh, and if there's anything cropped up in LiveJournal since last Thursday I should see, let me know, as I probably won't be catching up with everything.

Oh, and while I'm uploading pictures, some recent photos from around home. Lots of attempts to capture leaves "just so", attempted photos of chipmunks, photos from my local bike trail, and photos from a hike [livejournal.com profile] redactrice and [livejournal.com profile] shy_kat and I took along Skyline Drive.

Looks like I brought the weather with me from New England, having left just as the sun was coming out and the temperatures were warming...

No comment on the game so far, but can ESPN PLEASE

1. stop putting crap all over the screen. It's like a really bad website, covered in bells and whistles that impede the viewer from actually enjoying (and, often, even seeing) the game, which is the whole point of the broadcast.

2. Get Dave O'Brien out of the studio NOW and put someone in there with Marcelo who actually has the faintest idea WTF is going on and can comment with some insight on the sport he's watching? I really don't want 90 minutes of rewarmed meaningless stats and remarks about what's obvious to anyone watching the game (I mean, *really* obvious to *anyone*; I can see that Jan Koller is rubbing his head, I don't need someone to tell me that).

For heavens' sake, why put a baseball announcer on your World Cup coverage? Find a veteran sports journalist who has covered soccer, or maybe even an experienced manager, who can actually comment about the strategic aspects of the game, the way Marcelo can talk abot the tactical aspects. This is the BIGGEST tournament for the biggest sport in the world: would you send a boxing reporter to cover the World Series?
