The ride yesterday was 6.3 miles in about 50 minutes. Much slower than normal due to all the falling over and wading through streams. :-)
The nice folks at the shop gave Rupert a quick look-over and announced the front wheel was a bit out of true. They got it taken care of, and I bought a few odds and ends in gratitude (some more lube and chain cleaner, a pair of gloves, a bike cover). I really can't say enough nice things about
Spokes Etc. They gave me super advice about choosing a bike (which pretty much exactly dovetailed with the research I had done), they give you a free year of tune-ups, and they're quick, polite, and friendly. Their
website is full of useful information, too. I dealt with one or two other bike shops and didn't come away with very good impressions; these guys are great, IMO.
