Feeling much better, now. Insides will still be a bit unsettled for a while, but it's so nice to be able to eat and drink again; I could never give that up for good ;-) Did lose 5 pounds (temporarily) though. ;-)

A lovely thing is is having an afternoon off with one's sweetie, even if it's begun by random porbings and snippings. A. made us dinner, we ate and watched some Firefly, then did some snuggling and kissing and stufff, then watched Ae Fond Kiss and had some cups of tea. A lovely evening!

And it really is spring! I slept with all the windows open and woke up to sunlight and birdsong--lovely!

*A good film, which I'd seen before. Set in Glasgow, it's a Romeo-and-Juliet story of a young man of Pakistani family and a young Irish woman who have difficulty establishing their relationship in the face of opposition from their communities. The title is a reference to the Burns poem that begins:

Ae fond kiss, and then we sever;
Ae fareweel, alas, for ever!
Deep in heart-wrung tears I'll pledge thee,
Warring sighs and groans I'll wage thee!

my friend Justin sent me this:

[Background for nonMLS fans: The NY/NJ MetroStars were recently purchased (and renamed) by Red Bull drinks company, the CEO of whom has asked German football stat Franz Beckenbauer to consult on possible changes. The NY Cosmos were a leading team in the former North American Soccer League, the 1970s precursor to MLS that was ultimately doomed by teams' proclivity for signing the most expensive players available without regard to the profitability of the league.]

There had been speculation that one of Beckenbauer's former teammates, ex-Cosmos forward Giorgio Chinaglia, would have a role in some capacity with the club. In an interview with two separate newspapers earlier in the week, Chinaglia said he would replace everyone on the team, if he was in charge.

To which [New York Red Bulls general manager Alexi] Lalas retorted: "Giorgio seems to think we should fire the front office, coach and players. With all due respect, Giorgio can kiss my ass."

:-) (And, yes, there are several comma problems and a verb that should be in the subjunctive but isn't...)

I just posted this to a thread on our local game group's bulletin board about a new Warhammer Ancient Battles Campaign that someone wants to start based on the Shieldwall historical supplement. I thought it deserved to be preserved for posterity. :-)

"I'd love to participate at some point (I've thought about a Scots army from that book), but right now I'm only just getting started in Flames of War, and I really don't think I should try to start another new army. :-( Wow. I can't believe I really said that. :-)"
