winterbadger: (slightly bemused cat)
I'm back from surgery and doing OK. Many, many thanks to Chris, who is being a real pal about driving me around, getting my prescription filled, etc.

I think I'll take a raincheck on the mueum visit tomorrow, but hopefully I will be able to make dinner with Da Grrlz on Sunday night still.

So far: dizziness from general anaesthetic wearing off, sore throat from being intubated (told me that ahead of time--somethign to do with how the lap. surgery works), dehydration (which I will be working on reversing shortly, hungry (and no problem so far with crackers, etc.), and considerable soreness and pressure in the tum plus tenderness and bruising in related bits (which they mentioned might happen). Percocet is my friend! I also have a cute little pillow (got to get somethign for my $500! :-) to hold over my ice pack.

Lots of relaxing and telly are in order, I think, plus throat soother tea and mild food.

I thought I'd been whining to everyone about it; I guess I forgot to whine here too. :-)

I got diagnosed last month with a pair of mild inguinal hernias. So today was making a small hole (two, actually, judging from the bandages) in Jan, pushing all the bits back where they're supposed to go, and putting the abdominal equivalent of chain-link fencing inside to make sure they stay there.

To bad they don't seem to have vacuumed out all the extra fat while they were at it! :-)

No lifting (or, from the feel of things, bending) for a couple of weeks, along with no exercise more serious than walking. Then things ahould be back to normal.

Some details that are a bit TMI, I think, but parts of me feel better already. :-)
