awake... must stay awake

Joined bidger, redactrice, and several others to see the US men's national team play Panama in the latest round of qualifying for the Germany 2006 World Cup. After stumbling to snatch a 1-1 tie in Panama, the US men caught fire last night and pounded the hapless Central Americans 6-0 last night in front of nerly 20,000 fans. The crowd was very engaged, teh US fans actually *cheered* and *sang* :-) and there was a strong, musical, and largely polite Panamanian presence as well. A wonderful night, as the US piled on goal after goal, but I'm exhaustivo as a resutl. I ended up not getting to bed until midnight, and the cats did their usual (recently) job of waking me up several times and then lobbying from dawn onwards for food. I can't even close the bedroom door, because Nicholas has started ripping up the carpet in front of it when I do. (I wonder how much it would cost to get wood flooring put in...)
Work continues to go well, though the commute is shaping up to be 45-60 minutes no matter what route I take, instead of the 30-40 minutes it was at my old location. I also need to find the gym and get back to working out regularly, which I haven't done in the week or two I've been here. Either that start working out or running home, or stop by our corporate office and use the gym there on the way home.
I'd like to try to organize another game day in November; would those who might be interested comment here with dates that would be good? The 6th and the 14th are out for me (MLS conference playoff and MLS Cup).
Christian and I have finally finished hammering out all the property paperwork; we're going to get it signed and notarized tomorrow, and then we can do the final filing and hopefully finish the legal details before the end of the year.

Date: 2004-10-14 07:59 pm (UTC)I stayed up until 1 am last night to catch Canada's inevitable demise versus the Costa Ricans. We started brilliantly, but couldn't finish, other than DeRosario's corker from 30 yards. Second half, though...gah, we looked dim and confused. Only three minutes for Onstad to spill =another= one, right to the feet of Wanchope, for the perfect choice of who to make mistakes near, 1-1. We're desperate for a win, can't qualify without, so hurl men forward, take off defenders for forwards...only for Onstad to blow another one, 2-1 Costa Rica. The third one was a formality...
We will =never= qualify for the World Cup until we have a professional league.
Good luck to your lot, anyway, now you've qualified. We'll be cheering for our expat countries, as usual.
