Not only did he live in Williamstown, my college town, for many years, but his house was apparently just recently on the market.

Also see this article in Forbes. Apparently he left the house to the college when he died, but it was resold a few years later.

You mean just that it's on the ground floor? (silly Americans--the first floor is the first *above* ground level ;-) Well, remember how disabled he was for the latter part of his life.
