hitches and vexations

In The Land of Green Ginger (an excellent book that, in my opinion, will delight any reader, young or old), the fireworks display arranged to celebrate the nativity of the heir to Emperor Aladdin of China is delayed by what are referred to as "hitches and vexations". This pause in the dramatic narrative gives time for the plot to unfold.

I have encountered, once again, hitches and vexations of my own. I will not be going overseas to study this autumn. I may do so at some point in the future, but for right now, I'll be staying put. And looking to see what different an unexpected ways the plot chooses to unfold.

Thanks! Still some hope that I can do it later, and either way there's a good chance that I'll end up in the northeast before too long. So we can meet up and have a natter about things Scottish from time to time. :-)

Any more word on your possible visit to DC?

It is still 100% my intention, but it seems like every time I turn around people are making demands on my weekends (guests staying over, I'm housesitting, things like that ... crazy). I think at this point I've got a choice between the last two weekends in July, or possibly the first in August. Crazytown!

In any event, nattering about things Scottish (things in general, to be honest, Scottish or no) is always something I'm up for - in DC, MA, online, wherever :)
