The minor surgery went fine.
I showed up on time (i.e., half an hour before the actual appointment) and waited briefly before being prepped (strip off, gown--much better than hospital ones--IV prep, blood pressure, and a detailed question and answer for the anaestheioslogist's benefit). Papers to fill out acknowledging that they'd warned me about the aftereffects of the anaesthesia (basically, no driving/heavy machinery or alcohol for 12 hours). Reaffirm that I have someone picking me up (had to sign something to that effect, and promising I wouldn't just take a cab home--very particular about all that, they were). Very pleasant, if brisk, staff. Then the Dr. shows up, the IV drugs go in, and I don't recall anything at all after that until I started coming out of the anaesthesia on the way to recovery.
They took out the polyp in my rectum that I've known about for a while (1.5cm), and they found and removed three other smaller ones (all 0.5cm or less) in the farther reaches of the colon. Everythign looks fine; in the unlikely event of the biopsy proving more than routine, I should know in a week or two.
Chris was able to get Gilbert to the vet again (x-ray shows no enlargement of the kidney, so it's not serious, but he does have some minor infection and meds for that, plus a new kind of food just for him--oh joy working that...) We were not able to get the car to the shop beforehand (I crunched my car agaaint a pillar in the parking lot at work last night and threw the alignment out); they shop I've been goign to lately wanted me to take it somewhere else to get the alignment checked then bring it back to them. Sorry, guys, if I have tot ake it somewhere else, I'm going to let the other people do the work. This shop is nearby, and they've doen good work for me in the past, but they're not easy to get to and they don't speak English very well (which is kind of important when we're talking about car repairs), so I may start goign somewhere else.
Now for some solid food (first since Tuesday night) and off to the hammock; what a beautiful day to be recuperating on!
