Apr. 11th, 2013 01:19 pmDear Jan
I am delighted to inform you that the University is offering you admission to MSc Geographical Information Science - 1 Year (PTMSCGISCI1F) under the Terms and Conditions below. Please read this offer and the specific terms carefully and complete the instructions as necessary.
Your offer is CONDITIONAL on you meeting the requirements as detailed. Please submit the requested documentation as soon as you have it. Once you have met the conditions, we shall be able to send you an unconditional offer of admission.
Conditions to be met:
Evidence of successful completion of Masters degree
plus
Provision of two satisfactory references.
Please upload your masters degree certificate (diploma).
Please provide two up to date references. One of which must be an academic reference commenting on your suitability for postgraduate study. The letters must be signed, dated within the last two years and written on official headed paper.
In order to secure your place, you must respond to this offer by 9 May 2013. Competition for places is very high and if you fail to respond by this deadline your offer may be withdrawn. If you are not able to give us your decision by this date, please contact us to arrange an extension. Please respond by clicking on the 'Respond to Offer' link below.
If you do not hold a United Kingdom passport or one issued by another country in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland, you will need to apply for a visa or Entry Clearance to study in the UK. You may also need to apply for Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) clearance. See below for further information on this scheme and whether or not you will need to apply.
The sticking point here is the specificity of the requirements for the references. I have two references, which I submitted to them already, that meet all their criteria except timeliness (they're three years old). I'll do my best, but I'm not sanguine about getting two more within the next month; in my experience, getting letters of reference is like drawing teeth. But I will get onto it right away.
