it's been six years, come May
Feb. 2nd, 2013 12:52 pm...since I last lived in a house of my own (or, at least, that I shared with people I knew and felt were like family).
And there are all sorts of places that I'd like to go, and places that I'd like to live, where I won't be able to put down roots and will need to make do with apartments and flats.
But, sweet god above, I am tired of having to deal with the impact of other people on my domestic environment. I HATE having the hot water suddenly disappear when I'm part way through a shower (in the middle of the winter!). Or having no hot water at all. Of having the temperature be sky high, with radiators goign so hard my humidifier has no way to keep the place from being bone dry. Or, suddenly, for no reason, having it be freezing cold, a day after it's been boiling hot.
And the picayune stuff, too.It bugs me when people fill the recycling bins with empty boxes that, if they would break them down, would take up a fifth the space at most. And it bugs me when people leave trash lying around the floor of the bin room, instead of cleaning up after themselves. or leave laundry in the machines for days at a time, so other people have to shift it back and forth.
I want to live abroad; I want to study again. But part of me thinks, "You have a job with a decent salary and a good nest egg--why not just find a home of your own, now, where you don't have to put up with all this &%$#?"

Date: 2013-02-03 04:00 am (UTC)having a secure me-space, in my opinion, is essential to feeling grounded. even with wanderlust, it's still wonderful to know that there's a place that's forever YOU. and your cats. :)
