This has been a good day.

I woke up feeling much less itchy than I did the day before, having managed several rounds of fairly decent sleep. (Sleep lately has been coming in 2- to 3-hour rounds before I wake up and need to do something, like rub my arms and chest with a cold washcloth, to calm the itching so I can go back to sleep.)

It was pleasant and cool this morning. For at least a week more, we can enjoy DC late Spring (which is comparable to early summer in civilised climates. :-)

I weighed myself and I'm back under 20 stone (which, sadly, is good for me), even though I've been taking steroids (which I was afraid might puff me up).

I got some more window screens, so now all my bedroom windows can be open.

I have a short week this week and a minibreak at the end of it, with a chance to meet a new friend and see a new city.

Work was quiet and under control. A colleague and I managed to solve a complex problem.

I found a few things I needed at the grocery. The drive home was not a chore.

I'm making what I think will be a good dinner. I have nothing I need to do but relax and enjoy it.

I started listening to Barbara Tuchman's essays on writing history, which reinforced my belief that the new direction I want to go in is the right one for me

She quoted a passage that reminded me of my grandmother and my mother and made me both sad and happy. ("Lars Porsena of Clusium/By the Nine Gods he swore/..."; no one but my sisters will understand. :-)

I sent off an apology that was owing, received an undeserved acceptance, and may have salvaged a friendship I foolishly hadn't valued enough.

And, as Nicholas is reminding me right now, I have the Most Awesome Cats in the World (I think he just means himself, but...)

My SIL is starting to recover, at last report, from a nasty health scare.

I have wonderful family and excellent friends.

This has been a good day.

All lovely to hear.

I think I remember your mom quoting that poem.
