accomplishment
Oct. 2nd, 2011 10:11 amI feel as if on weekends lately I've been slacking off, then wondering during the week where the weekend went and why I have so many things left to do.
Today I woke up between 7 and 8, got up, fed the cats, washed a few dishes and put some away, got groceries for the week* and then did two loads of laundry (a third will have to wait for this evening).
Meals planned for this week: ground beef with pesto and rotini plus leftover salad for dinner tonight; then Monday and Tuesday some combination of more salad, roasted Brussels sprouts, steamed spinach, or sauteed zucchini with some combination of beef stew, steaks, roast chicken, or mince and tatties. Also got more bread for lunch sandwiches and some oranges.
The weather continues beautiful--cool and breezy and overcast. I had a walk last night after dinner--it was dark, but it was lovely walking through our little park in the chilly darkness and hearing the wind in the trees.

Date: 2011-10-03 11:12 am (UTC)When I worked TDY in Texas years ago, I used to have to get up early in the morning most of the time. So I have a strong (and by no means unpleasant) memory of what that scrubby country north of Austin is like in the growing dawn of a cold morning. There's not so much a smell that's evocative as just a feel of the air, the way the light, as it trickles over the horizon, brings up the relief of the small trees, the rocks, the gently rolling hills. The memories are not fond enough to make me want to return on my own, but there's enough there for a kind of ur-longing.
