Vice President Dick Cheney blurted out the "F word" at Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont during a heated exchange on the Senate floor, congressional aides said on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday in a terse discussion between the two that touched on politics, religion and money, with Cheney finally telling Leahy to "f--- off" or "go f--- yourself," the aides said.

from a Reuters report

I swear a hell of a lot myself, but in my own time. When I'm at work, engaged with my coworkers, they expect me to be professional. If I acted like this, I'd get a stern talking to, possibly even a formal warning in my employment record.

But then, since the VP apparently feels free to screw the voters, the environment, and the taxpayers, I suppose it's no surprise his reaction to criticism is to tell someone to fuck themselves.

Though I have to laugh at the state of society in which it's felt necessary to hhyphen out the letters of the word in reporting it. We haven't gotten very far from the 19th century, have we?

Actually, the Post reported it and did type the word "fuck".

fwiw, the Washington Post published the quote without any hyphens and took a lot of heat for it. It's okay for the President Pro Tem of the Senate to say it on the Senate floor, but God (can I say God?) forbid it's repeated in the press. Yoy.
Further, and what really gets to me, is that Cheney said it because he felt his integrity was being attacked by Leahy. Yeah, Dick, one way to really shore up that integrity is to say "fuck" on the Senate floor. Oh, yes, and then run to Fox News (notorious for its integrity) and smirk at the world while you report that you're glad you said it.

I have had a lot of respect for Leahy for a long time. I'm glad he provoked Cheney into showing his bully side.

my own take on this-- besides revealing the bullying aspect of the VP's personality (again)-- is that this very Admin (in the person of Michael Powell of the FCC) has media companies concerned about fines. I credit WaPo with printing this as news, because, after all, it's a high-ranking member of this Admin who said it!
