goddamn it!
Apr. 20th, 2011 02:07 pmI had a follow-up post that I've been adding little bits to when I had a spare moment for about three hours. I tried to post it and the effing network ate it.
Summary: I'm giving up on Credo. They no longer seem like a cause I want to support, and they want to charge me $300-400 for phones that anyone else would give me for <$100, or even free if I signed up for a plan. They only charge NEW Credo customers $50 for the same phones, but the cheapest I can get them is $150-200 even if I sign up for a new contract extension.
So I'm going to get an iPhone. I just can't decide whether to go with AT&T (cheaper plans and GSM phones but reputedly bad coverage) or Verizon (more expensive plans, CDMA-only phones, but reputedly much better coverage).
I'm also thinking of canceling my landline.

Date: 2011-04-20 08:48 pm (UTC)It pains me to recommend Verizon for anything, but for phone service in the DC area it's a no-brainer.

Date: 2011-04-21 01:20 am (UTC)I vote for AT&T; they have very good coverage in the DC area, and it gets better all the time. You can call and use data at the same time on AT&T, which you cannot do on Verizon. Data speeds are better over most of the network, though the few places Verizon has true 4G rather than marketing 4G the data speeds are better on the true 4G (basically at Airports only right now).
The underground repeater monopoly Verizon enjoyed for many years is finally broken and other carriers are finally allowed to bring repeaters into the metro lines; that monopoly was always morally wrong; and I am glad for competition again.
