Oh, and who twigged that Jamie Bamber (Captain Apollo) was British? Certainly not me. That's three actors (him, Dominic West, and Idris Elba) who have fooled me so far, while I have yet to hear a US actor who can convincingly sound English, Welsh, or Scots.

How about James Marsters? His accent at least seams consistent as Spike in the Whedonverse. And, how do you evaluate Hugh Laurie?

James Marsters, erm, got better over time, but he was never good, IMO.

Hugh Laurie is, IMO, amazing. I think his American is close to flawless. But I had seen him for many years in British movies and TV before he did House, so he never had the chance to fool me.

Amanda Tapping's British accent in Sanctuary is flawless, and I haven't heard it slip once in three seasons.

I'm as yet not fully convinced by Hugh Laurie's accent as House, but then I still can't look at him without thinking of his various roles in Blackadder.

How about David Tennant? I'd never have guessed he was Scots, but his own voice is totally different to the Doctor's.
