I frequently enjoy having a comfortable income, so I can live in a nice apartment, have a nice car to drive to work (even though I will try to take the Metro to work often this year), entertain myself and my friends, support three cats in the style to which they are accustomed, and don't have to worry about heat or food or if I can pay the doctrs' bills.
At times like this I'm also glad I have a comfortable income because it means I can donate generously to relief funds.
Everyone has their priorities and their needs and their choice of charities, and I'm not about to tell anyone what to do with their money or how. But if you're *trying* to think of someone to donate to to help with the disaster in Haiti, here is Charity Navigator's list of reputable organisations that are getting involved in relief in Haiti. There are also links to CN's tips for crisi giving and avoiding charity scams.
