I'm glad that we had a chance to go down to my mother's last weekend, but I am also glad we have this weekend at home. NJS will be busy with schoolwork on Saturday, so I can catch up on some of my list of things to do before we go do soccer stuff (Sunday morning) and hang out with friends (Sunday afternoon/evening).

I do want to
  • finish journaling my sailing trip (and our summer vacation, to include captioning the photos)
  • start selling off all my spare gaming stuff, either through a wholesaler or ebay
  • finish sorting out all the stuff that used to be in my desk
  • finish filing all the papers I've accumulated
  • finish my new HSMP application
  • paint some of my minis
  • play some of my long-neglected games
  • work on some gaming terrain
  • try to write summary journal entries for the trips I never LJed properly (I do have paper journal entries for some of them).

Yeah, obviously that's not all going to get done Saturday, especially as there's a DC United match at 7.30 and a testimonial for Marco Etcheverry before that. But I'll get *something* done. Maybe :-)

We *did* accomplish a lot at my mom's. We brought her my old bird-feeder, to frustrate the squirrels. We spent a good deal of time finding information for her on the Internet about how to make collection agencies leave you alone if you are a third party (it seems that these guys are after my sister Victoria--luckily none of us know how to get in contact with her. :-) And while we were supposed to be helping her get a few things down from the attic, we cleared out about ten cartons of empty tins that went to the recycle and about the same quantity of old toys and rubbish that could be thrown away. I also found a collection of National Geographic that is fairly complete for 1959 to 1979 (anyone want to offer a derisory sum for them? they're severely foxed), as well as single copies from 1916 and 1940 that are going to the book dealer to see if they are worth anything! About twelve more trips like that and we should have the whole attic cleared out! :-)

It's really nice to see N and my mum together; they connect in a very good way. N has an openness and an honesty and an enthusiasm that my mum really loves, and mum is kindly and so thrilled by meeting such smart, funny, lovely lady. :-) I got to talk to my sister Cornelia for a little while by phone, and I'm hoping to catch up more with her and Lee soon. Things sound as if they are progressing fairly well with the twins, but if there's anyone for whom I would think two months of bedrest would be absolutely intolerable, it would be Lee, poor dear!

OK, back to work for a little while...

I'm so glad that N and your parents are hitting it off--I was really nervous about when my parents met A for the first time (I'm the only, and they're protective because of it). They did, and my mom even hugged him (Dad scolded her teasingly--"that's just not British") and even though A was kind of confused as to why she hugged him right away (because Dad's right!) he was glad that they were so accepting of him.

As for the Nat'l Geographics, eBay, my friend. :)

My family LOVES AD. Three out of four parental figures even said 'he's a keeper.' (The fourth likes him too, but three used *those exact words*.)

However, my dad's continued references to 'my son-in-law' are not working. :)

I think it is extremely cool that Neta gets along with your mother. I've been blessed in that both sets of my in-laws have been wonderful people.
