Sligo Creek is ok. Narrow, rough patches, tree roots and very twisty. I usually take the road instead of the trail, but the road is narrow.
Are you close to Long Branch now? You should try Beach Drive. On weekends much of the DC part is closed to cars. Like having a 25 foot wide bike trail. Even the Mo Co part, with light traffic, is a nice ride.
