A friend of mine was just asking me if Buddhism ever had adherents who espoused violence, and I was just telling him about Japanese medieval Buddhist monks who'd frequently raid Kyoto and meddled in power struggles between Samurai/Daimyo.
It has been a while though... so this is particularly funny.
