second visit
Feb. 14th, 2006 05:20 pmWell, the stress test was fine.
I got there in plenty of time, filled out some forms, got changed, chatted with the doc, then I got hooked up with plenty of electrodes and it was chocks away. I lasted through 11 of the 15 minutes (maximum) before I volunteered to stop, which they said was pretty average. In fact, pretty average was the general consensus after the doc looked over the graphs. I need to lose weight and exercise as much as I had been before the hernia surgery, or a little bit more, but there's no reson I shouldn't be able to execise fully, he said, and if I could lose 20-30 pounds I'd probably be able to finish the course, which he said would amount to being 30% less likely to die early of heart failure, etc. :-) Very agreeable, chirpy fellow with a dry manner but a twinkle in his eye.
So plumbing check and sleep study and I'll be done. In the meantime, I need to ring my sweetie and see what our plans are for the evening. I had a list of ten things I wanted to get done today, one of which proved to be unnecessary and seven of whihc I accomplished. So that's pretty good! :-)

Date: 2006-02-14 10:54 pm (UTC)The other set of plumbing tests are because I have PMD. link to explanation if you're not squeamish
The stress and sleep tests are to find out of my chronic shortness of breath when exercising and my tendency to fall asleep in theatres and meetings (closed, warm spaces where there are lots of people) are related to any sort of apnea or heart/lung complaint. Evidently not the latter, perhaps the former.
