clarification and cancellation

OK, apparently I wasn't clear enough; my fault--I apologize. I don't usually send out Games Day emails to people who I know read my LiveJournal, because I figure they will see the announcement there. Of course, responses are always appreciated in that journal entry, but my post yesterday was not directed at anyone who reads this journal--it was specifically written about the people who *don't*, who I therefore send an email to directly. Nor did I intend to somehow suggest people who read here are not friends by saying that I sent the email to friends--I sent it to friends who don't have LJ accounts!

In any event, because very few people have indicated both interest and availability, I'm going to cancel for this month. This was just an inopportune weekend to choose, with lots of things going on for everyone. I may try again in June.

It is unfortuante, but sometimes it happens. It's spring, the weather is good, people are busy. It will happen another time.

It will give me time to finish rereading the rules for Revolt in the East ;-)

I just finished doing this myself, as it happens. Also read over the Cyberboard tutorial on the Downtown site; there are a few things about CB that don't yet seem crystal clear (like how you actually record moves) but I figure they'll become so through experimentation.

Yeah, I think the way it works is that (to start) you create a new game file by saying File->New and selecting the scenario file to use. Then save it and start moving counters to mark the first turn's moves. When done, press the "send recording to file" button and save the game move file with all your moves in it. That you send to the other player. They open it (Load Recorded Move File) and begin walking through the moves. If all is as it should be, they click Playback->Accept file playback, and that gets added to the game file. They then do their move, save it, and send it to you, and so on. The move can include anything under teh action menu (compoun moves, plotted moves, manipulation/removal/addition of coutners, dice rolls, etc.)

If there's something wrong with the moves, I think the receiving player can reject the entire file or save it up to a certain point, make modifications, and send it back. Something like: OK, your squad moves intot he open field, but I'm going to stop before they move all the way across, reveal a hidden MG team, and resolve opportunity fire, which eliminates your squad, save the file at *that* point, and send it back to you so you can do the rest of your move over.

At least that's my impresssion that's how it works.
